Year 3 & 4 Art Lesson

This week in Art, Year 3 and 4 have been exploring sculpture through the work of the artist Alberto Giacometti. The children studied his distinctive elongated human figures and discussed how you can use shape, proportion and texture to express movement and emotion.

The children noted how his figures were like humans but they looked like skeleton versions and that this linked to the surreal artist style of Alberto Giacometti. Inspired by his work, they created their own human-like sculptures using aluminium foil.

They carefully shaped, twisted and refined their figures. Their finished sculptures show great creativity and concentration, and the children thoroughly enjoyed working in this surrealist style!
