Black History Month in EYFS

Early YeDSC 0424ars are really enjoying celebrating Black History Month! The children looked fantastic dressed in a variety of colourful cultural clothes, proudly sharing and learning about different traditions from around the world.

As part of their celebrations, the class also had great fun exploring music, trying out a range of instruments from different cultures and discovering new rhythms and sounds.

It has been a joyful, hands-on way to celebrate diversity, culture, and community, and to help our youngest learners appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

The children then enjoyed learning about the artist Alma Thomas and creating some lovely pieces based on her artwork, using different colours to print a circle.

Early Years also went to the library and read some lovely stories. They learnt a dance in the story ‘Dance Just Like so’ called the ‘Shooby-doo-mamba” where they had to ‘do the funky chicken, cha cha left and cha cha right then twirl and clap clap clap’. It was lots of fun!
