Year 4 Science - Grouping Animals

In Science, Year 4 have been busy building on their learning about animals and how they are grouped. Over the past few lessons, the pupils have explored the main animal groups, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, as well as the fascinating world of invertebrates and vertebrates. They even discovered that some invertebrates, like molluscs, are soft-bodied and belong to their own special group!

To put their knowledge into practice, the pupils worked together in small groups to devise their own classifying charts. They sorted their given animals into different categories, thinking about features such as habitat, movement, and skeletons. Year 4 showed great curiosity and collaboration throughout the activity and all designed excellent classifying charts!
