Year 1 & 2 visit the V&A Museum
Pupils in Years 1 and 2 had a fantastic day out visiting the Young V&A Museum in Bethnal Green! Our trip was part of our celebrations for Black History and Diversity Month, giving the children an opportunity to explore how different countries, cultures and communities have helped shape the world around us.
Our adventure began with an exciting train journey, where the children eagerly looked out of the windows, spotting all the sights along the way. On arrival, everyone was excited to explore the museum and discover its wonderful collection of toys, games, models and interactive exhibits. The children took part in a series of exciting 'missions', challenging them to hunt for particular objects around the museum. These included questions such as, "Can you find a toy made in Sweden?" and "Can you find an object designed in India?" The children loved searching high and low to complete their challenges!
As they explored, the children discovered objects from different countries and learned how a variety of cultures and traditions have influenced the toys, games and designs we see today. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity and recognise the important contributions people from different backgrounds have made to art, design and creativity.
There was plenty more to discover, too! The children put on a wonderful performance in the mini theatre and were amazed by the incredible collection of miniature house models, taking time to look at all the fascinating details.
It was wonderful to see everyone exploring, investigating and learning together. The children thoroughly enjoyed discovering how the world around us is shaped by different people and cultures. A fantastic day was had by all, and we returned to school with lots of happy memories!
