Black History Month - Windrush talks (Lolade Ajala) and Poetry (Neil Zetter )

As part of Diversity /Black History Month Normanhurst hosted two exciting and informative workshops.

Bigfoot Arts Education's “Windrush; Then & Now” workshops used drama, storytelling, role-play and interactive activities to help pupils explore the experiences of the Empire Windrush passengers who arrived in Britain in 1948 and the lasting impact of the Windrush Generation on modern Britain.

Neil Zetter is an award-winning children's performance poet, author and educator who delivered highly interactive poetry and storytelling workshops to our students. Designed to develop literacy, creativity, confidence and communication skills,  students were able to successfully improve their literacy skills through the use of poetry and produce some excellent work. His sessions used humour, audience participation and performance to make language accessible and engaging for all our learners
