Year 2 visit Pets' Corner

Year 2 had a fantastic day at Pets' Corner as part of their learning about animal groups and what animals need to survive.

The children became animal experts as they identified mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. They even completed a scavenger hunt, finding and drawing examples of each animal group around the park! Throughout the day, we were accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide who shared fascinating facts about the animals and helped bring our learning to life.

One of the highlights of the day was getting up close to some of the animals. The children hand-fed the friendly goats, stroked an African land snail and even touched a millipede! They also saw a wonderful range of animals including ponies, sheep, horses, donkeys, snakes, axolotls, owls, chickens and meerkats to name a few. 

The goats and meerkats were particular favourites, although the cheeky cockatoo stole a few hearts when it waved its wings and said, "Goodbye!" as we left.

There was also plenty of time for fun in the playground, with the children enjoying the slides, roundabout and climbing equipment before finishing off the day with a delicious ice cream treat.

All of the class said, "Best trip ever!"
