Early Years Forest School - Understanding Smell

The children had lots of fun at Forest School last week! Mrs Thompson began the session by explaining the important Forest School rules and how they help to keep us safe.

The session focused on the sense smell. The children enjoyed exploring the different scents of a variety of herbs including lavender, fennel and mint. They had lots of fun guessing which herb they were smelling before using a spoon to squash the herbs and create their very own ‘potions’.

It was lovely to see how excited and engaged the children were throughout the activity. They enjoyed using their senses to explore the natural world while developing their vocabulary and imagination.
