Bilbao Trip
The Bilbao Trip Group had an unforgettable few days on their Spanish adventure, making the most of every opportunity to explore the culture, language, and beautiful surroundings of Bilbao and Santander.
The trip began with a fantastic day in Bilbao. The children visited the iconic Guggenheim Museum, where they enjoyed sketching some of the impressive artwork and architecture in their sketchbooks. Afterwards, they experienced a traditional Spanish lunch, sampling around 50 different pintxos. It was wonderful to see the pupils confidently using their Spanish to order food, ask questions, and develop their vocabulary and listening skills in real-life situations.
The group then travelled by mountain railway to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking Bilbao, taking in the breathtaking scenery before returning to enjoy a hands-on tapas-making class, where they prepared their own evening meal. The day ended with plenty of laughter, games, and football on the beach.
The adventure continued with a relaxing day by the sea, where everyone enjoyed spending time on the beach before experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of a local summer festival in the evening. The festival was a real highlight of the trip, giving the children a wonderful insight into Spanish traditions and celebrations.
On the following morning, the group visited the magnificent El Soplao Caves, marvelling at the impressive rock formations and learning more about this remarkable natural landmark.
Throughout the trip, the pupils have been outstanding ambassadors for the school. Their enthusiasm, excellent behaviour, willingness to embrace new experiences, and confidence in using Spanish have made the visit a tremendous success.
