Year 10 Careers Day

The Year 10 careers programme culminated in the annual Careers and Mock Interview Day, held on Monday 15 June 2026. The event provided pupils with a valuable opportunity to gain insight into a range of professional careers and to develop their interview skills in preparation for future applications.

The day was divided into two sessions. During the morning, pupils attended presentations delivered by experienced professionals, who shared their career journeys and offered advice about their respective fields. Our guest speakers were:

  • Dr Han Newman – Sport Psychology
  • Sinead Greenaway – Media
  • Megan Prior – Finance
  • Dathan Muscat – Engineering
  • Dr Debra Marcos – Medicine

The presentations were informative and engaging, giving pupils a greater understanding of the qualifications, skills and experiences required in a variety of professions.

Following the morning sessions, pupils and guest speakers enjoyed a drinks reception and lunch hosted by Mr Botha, providing a further opportunity for informal discussion and networking.

In the afternoon, each pupil participated in a 20-minute one-to-one mock interview with a member of the interview panel. During these interviews, pupils discussed their ambitions, interests, achievements and involvement in school life. This experience allowed them to practise presenting themselves confidently and professionally in a formal setting.

The interviewers were highly complementary about the maturity, enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated by our pupils. They also provided constructive feedback to help pupils continue developing their communication and interview skills.

As they prepare to enter Year 11, pupils have gained invaluable experience of the interview process, which will prove beneficial when applying for sixth form and future educational or employment opportunities. The Year 10 cohort would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the professionals who generously gave their time and expertise to make the day such a success.
