EYFS Forest Walk - Hapa Zome Tapestry

Our Early Years pupils recently enjoyed a wonderful forest walk around Connaught Water, stopping at Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge to take part in a range of exciting outdoor activities.

The children worked together to create dens for their cuddly toys, explored the woodland on a minibeast hunt using magnifying glasses, and enjoyed learning about Hapa Zome - a traditional Japanese art technique that involves pounding fresh leaves and flowers onto fabric to transfer their natural pigments and create beautiful botanical prints.

With support from their teachers, each pupil created their own Hapa Zome artwork, demonstrating excellent listening skills and sensible use of their hammers throughout the activity.

To commemorate the day, all of the individual fabric pieces have been combined to create a wonderful tapestry, which is now proudly displayed in their classroom.

It was a fantastic day of creativity, exploration, and outdoor learning, with the children showing great enthusiasm throughout.
