Year 7 Bank of England Trip

Before half term, our Year 7 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to the Bank of England Museum in the heart of London’s financial district. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to explore the fascinating world of money, banking, and the economy, while also discovering how Maths, History, and Architecture are closely connected in the world of finance.

Throughout the visit, Year 7 learnt about the history of the Bank of England and its important role in managing the UK’s economy. They explored a range of interactive exhibits that showed how money has changed over the centuries, from early forms of currency to the modern banknotes and coins we use today. Pupils were particularly interested in seeing how the design and security features of banknotes have evolved over time. One of the highlights of the day was the chance to lift – or at least attempt to lift – a genuine gold bar made of 99% pure gold. Year 7 were amazed by its incredible weight and fascinated by its value, making it a memorable hands-on experience. The trip was a valuable experience that deepened the pupils understanding of finance, history, and economics while allowing them to explore one of London’s most historic institutions.
