Year 8 STEAM Trip to London Zoo
On Thursday 19 March Year 8 visited London Zoo as part of STEAM. The sun shone and all the animals came out to greet our pupils.
They went into the monkey enclosure, where a zoo keeper told us that monkeys clean their teeth using the bark from apple and cherry trees because they like the taste. Pupils then went to see the giraffes and the pygmy hippos. After lunch, Year 8 saw the penguins who were swimming around the pool, then on to see the lions, tigers and gorillas. They finished the day by going into the reptile house to see the crocodiles and the bright blue poison dart frog.
London Zoo works hard to keep animals safe from extinction, it supports breeding programmes to help endangered animals and makes the public aware of nature and wildlife and how to care for them, it was an amazing day.
