4th Plinth Art Competition

Two Normanhurst pupils, Khush Patel and James Peterson have won prizes in the prestigious 4th Plinth Art Competition.

The Competition is open to all London Schools,  pupils are required to design an artwork to be placed on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. This year there were a record 1,650 entries from schools across the whole of London.

Khush’s, “Life Meets Death” was a witty and philosophical idea about life the importance of humour when life is short. James’ artwork, “Take a Picture” was a multi-media interactive design that encouraged members of the public to use their camera phones to post their ideas and artwork on the plinth via a large rotating screen. Mr Beint also received a surprise Art Teacher’s award during the ceremony which took place in City Hall and was hosted by the Deputy Mayor of London, Munira Mirza. This Year’s Judge was world famous Turner Prize artists Jeremy Deller who presented the awards to the pupils. The pupil’s artwork was displayed in a stunning exhibition around the main concourse of City Hall and will be open to the public until the end of the month.  Read the article in the local Guardian HERE
