On Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st March, all of year 7, 8 and 9 were taken to Bletchley Park. The historic site was a great to explore, and the students learnt a lot about the history of the site. They also got a chance to put their coding and de-coding skills to the test! It was a great trip and here is what some of our pupils had to say about it.

I enjoyed the guided tour around Bletchley Park, learning about the mansion that had hidden details relating to the war. It was fun to see a real-life enigma machine that is worth half a million today and to solve examples of different codes like Morse code.
Eloise- year 8
The Bletchley Park trip was very fun! It allowed us to have a glimpse of what it was like in WW2 when we explored the rooms and learnt about Morse code.
Sayfullah- year 8
I went to Bletchley Park and it was an unforgettable experience! We got to touch the old typewriters and the code workshop was fun and challenging. The amazing tour guide made it interesting and explained the history of Bletchley Park. Also, I learnt some techniques on how to decipher code.

I feel like the trip to Bletchley Park was very pedagogic and entertaining. We learnt about exciting cypher coding. We visualised some vehicles and the first computer ever in the first person. This trip has benefited us in some ways: the trip gave us a better understanding of a coding language, we observed ancient objects and learnt some history behind World War 1.
Shay- year 7
When we went to Bletchley Park we had a great time looking at everything that the code breakers had stayed in and worked in. After, we did some code breaking ourselves trying to work out a name. We also got to look at an original enigma machine and well as a model of the bombe. Overall, it was an amazing trip and a great experience.
Esma- year 9
Bletchley Park is a historic site in England that played a crucial role in World War II. It was the central site for British codebreakers who worked to decipher encrypted messages sent by the Axis powers. The codebreakers’ work at Bletchley Park is believed to have shortened the war by up to two years and saved countless lives.
Kayden- year 7
The Bletchley park trip was a very fun trip. When we got there, a tour guide showed us to cottages where people like Alan Turing lived during World War 2 where they cracked the German-Nazi enigma code. Then after, we went to a workshop where we had to crack different types of code. We cracked a mono-alphabetic substitution cipher. Immediately after, I got to type a 5 letter word into an Enigma machine (used by Nazi Germany’s military command to encode strategic messages before and during World War II). After lunch, we went to their bombe computer (a machine that was used to crack the German enigma code). Lastly, we went to the gift shop and then went back to school.
Zayaan- year 7
Bletchley Park was very interesting and full of amazing things to look at. Some of the things we saw included the enigma machine and motorbikes and vintage cars used during the time of WW2. We also learnt about different codes which were fun to discover.
Numa- year 9
The Morse code workshop was fun, and easy to understand. My favourite part of the trip was going inside the Bletchley park mansion, as it had hidden details related to the war.
Qasim- year 7
It was an amazing day out to at Bletchley Park, the home of Alan Turing’s ground-breaking work. I have watched movies like “The Imitation Game”, and have researched the whole enigma code chapter in British history. Bletchley Park was undoubtedly pivotal in helping Britain win World War 2. This was an iconic building where revolutionary ideas were born. Today, in an era of AI, few remember that actually it all started here with his famous Turing Test. An awesome all-round trip!
Selina- year 7
The trip to Bletchley Park was amazing! I learnt a lot about the Enigma machine, and I also had lots of fun code breaking. I really liked this trip, and took away lots of information from it.
Alya- year 9
The Bletchley Park Trip was very interesting and educational. We learnt all about how the codes were set, intercepted and decoded, and we even saw and touched a real life Enigma machine!
Caleb- year 7
Bletchley Park was a very fun experience, it was nice to learn all about how the English intercepted and deciphered a lot of the Nazi messages. We also learnt about the enigma machine and why the Germans thought that their messages could not be deciphered, yet the English deciphered the message. My favourite part was probably the code breaking part where we were given a couple different types of codes or ciphers like the Caesar cipher and the Rail Fence code. I really enjoyed the trip and I would gladly go back with my family.
Eshan- year 7
Bletchley Park was an amazing trip which was enjoyable. We learnt a lot about very old computers and how people would figure out things through a radio that are said in a different language. There is a lot of history in Bletchley Park explaining about things like computers during the world war.
Max – year 9
My time at Bletchley Park was great. We completed a workshop on different codes. We also saw an Enigma machine and best of all was that we got to touch the real enigma machine itself! While we were there we learnt about the past and service of Bletchley Park during WW2.
Ayaan – year 8
Bletchley Park was amazing. I learned a lot about the machines used in WW2. My favourite part was the workshop where we learned about enigma machines.
Sienna – year 7
Bletchley Park was so interesting. It was so fun and I would definitely go back there with my family soon.
Eisa – year 7
Bletchley Park was an amazing experience. The best part of the trip was when we got to de-code Morse code, and when we went into the mansion. We also got to go into the huts where women would work, and we saw the old cars they drove in.
