Year 7 Foundations of colour
As part of building their foundation skills, year 7 students are refreshing their knowledge of colour, how to read a colour wheel and how to effectively use paint to create bold and vibrant images. One of the skills developed in this foundation skills project is about how to be independent in the art room, students learn how to safely and effectively select their materials and clean up really well afterwards. All great transferable life skills! Students will use their knowledge developed about composition and colour later this term as they create painting in response to the work of artist Sarah Graham.
Year 9 Me, Myselfie and I
Year 9 are developing their portrait skills this year. Using art structures to create a representation of themselves while also thinking about how artists can use their work to communicate ideas. As the projects develop the students will devise ways to disrupt these structures to creating increasingly individualised artworks, finding innovative way to communicate something about themselves.
Year 11 Individual art projects
As year 11 come to the end of the development of their portfolios for their exam they have all found their own unique way of developing and representing their ideas around their project titles. Titles include States of Change, Order and Disorder and Reflection and Distortion. The wide range of styles and techniques used by the students is amazing and it is fantastic to see them grow as artists!
Art Club – Kusama Pumpkins
As a celebration of all thing autumnal, Art club have looked at the sculpture work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Using clay, the group sculpted their Kusama pumpkin forms, ready to paint in the following club. Each student has interpreted the artist in their own way, producing a lovely range of responses. Well done Art Clubbers!
