Day two of Kindergarten’s Jubilee week celebrations started with an exciting Morris dancing session! The children learned about how the dancers usually wear bells around their ankles to make lots of noise when they jump around and wave hankies in the air. They loved listening to the traditional music and having a go at the moves themselves.
Later in the day, the children made beacons like those that will be lit across the country. They held them high in the sky imagining what the real beacons will look like when they’re lit. They then had a great creative afternoon inspired by the art of Andy Warhol. Everyone used watercolour paints and painted the Queen in very unusual colours, they even went on to decorate her further with brightly coloured pens. Finally, they had a look at the growth of the class caterpillars and couldn’t believe how big they are getting.
Everyone is so excited for tomorrow’s activities where due to the weather, they will carry over the Early Years interpretation of the ‘fly past’ with paper planes.
