Duke of Edenborough Practice Expedition

On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March students from years 9 and 10 continued their journey on the DofE programme by completing their practice expedition. In this time they developed skills such as navigation, orienteering, setting up of tents, rucksack packing, the safe use of stoves, diet and menu planning, first aid, emergency procedures, county code and planned their final routes for their qualifying expeditions.

Students excelled throughout the weekend and there were some wonderful moments captured on camera that displayed teamwork, leadership, independence and communication, which are of course an integral part of being successful on this great scheme.

I was incredibly impressed by the way students conducted themselves during this weekend, particularly during the wet weather on Sunday. We now look forward to the assessed expedition where I am sure students will go above and beyond to ensure they complete and achieve the full bronze award.
