Science week 2022

Day two of Science Week for Year 6 was just as exciting as day one! They have set up a very exciting investigation which will be monitored each day and go over into next week too. They are studying which environments enable mould to grow the easiest. During this investigation, they looked at the discovery made by Alexander Fleming and used their knowledge to make predictions for the results of the test. After this, they had a fantastic opportunity to talk to Material Scientist/ Engineer, Karen Vernon-Pang via a zoom session that was hosted by Belle Fletcher from Sheffield Hallam University. To finish off their day, Year 6 started to learn about Human and Natural Causes of Air Pollution – what a busy day!

Year 6 have had a very exciting and animal orientated day for Science Week, after the exciting assembly they discussed what the term ‘Growth’ meant to them. After this they created an acrostic poem personalised to their views. Following this they met some Giant Snails and the Chicks, they learnt all about how they grow and develop. What a great first day!

The Junior students started Science Week 2022 with a bang! They were lucky enough to have an interactive assembly led by Senior pupils, showcasing lots of exciting experiments such as elephants’ toothpaste and exploding balloons!

Pupils have also been enjoying having the chicks in school and have been monitoring their growth over the past week.

Finally, Year 1 and 2 discussed the importance of sustainability and went litter picking. They had so much fun.
